Now that the grand D100M social engineering project by the self-anointed few has woefully failed, President Barrow must wise up from his recent victory lap and focus on reconciling the country instead of falling into another trap already rigged for him by the TRRC next year June, 2021. Since Ousainou Darboe is constitutionally ineligible for the 2021 Presidential contest, the country should brace up for a Solo Sandeng Redux- UDP shall try to render the country ungovernable come rain come shine. 1. By the way, what is the take of the 800lb gorilla in the room Mackey Sall over our ongoing constitutional debate? I don’t think endorsing the draft favors his political strategy in the country although rejecting it may be another defining moment that in time may disadvantageously hinder his success so far with Adama Barrow. Don’t ask me how because I am yet to find a definitive answer to that. I however started losing hope in the whole exercise when they discarded the easiest and cheapest option of reviewing and amending the 1997 constitution and came up with a plagiarized document from Kenya. The 1997 constitution was a well researched document derived from an exhausted national consultation exercise under the chairmanship of a credible scholar, Mr. Gabriel Roberts. We could have used the original copy unaltered that had everything desired by the Gambians, including term limit, seemingly the most important. But everybody’s sense of judgement was at the time clouded by the toxic hatred they harbored against Jammeh, plus they had no clue about how to run a simple modern government. Evidently, that resulted in the chaos we have brought ourselves.
