Breaking down Barrow’s conciliatory politics; Halifa Sallah’s pomposity and superficial understanding of Gambian politics; and finally why Ousainou Darboe is constitutionally ineligible to contest the 2021 Presidential election.
The Coalition 2016 transition agenda has gone off-kilter: The chief architect of the Coalition, Hon. Halifa Sallah is now responding to ghosts and fake news instead of apologizing to the Gambians for the royal mess they have created; and the TRRC is now a tawdry venue for bashing President Barrow and make character assassinations of anybody supporting Barrow. The Gambia is doomed and honestly, I empathize with President Barrow… And with all sincerity, I want to apologize to President Barrow for calling him an epileptic.
I meant to give him some tough love out of frustration with his lack of initiative to tackle the rampant sabotage within his government. It seems to me now that some people around him such as Hamat Bah are listening and speaking up. President Barrow has disclosed an intent to ally with any political party but more significantly the APRC. We salute this bold move so far but we would still encourage him to take the necessary initiatives in order to seal the deal that shall guarantee his ability to govern without the demonic ghosts of the UDP haunting him into the future. These ghosts are the Janneh Commission; the Constitutional Review Commission and the TRRC. These three were designed and weaponized to incapacitate the APRC, demonize Yaya Jammeh, and dispirit any of the UDP’s perceived enemies.
